The second most important premium Spanish reds is Ribera del Duero DO, fighting the crown with the famous Rioja. Both regions main grape variety is Tempranillo. A full-medium bodied dark red with medium acidity, medium tannins and black and red fruity flavours. Ribera del Duero produces some of the most value for money reds in the world. The 100% Tempranillo often linked with its black fruits notes and oak flavours.

Bodegas Fuentenarro began only 13 years ago, growing 100% Tempranillo grapes. The vineyard is located 830 meters above sea level, it has little rain fall, dry hot summer and long cold winter.

Fuentenarro 4 meses barrica – The wine spent at least 4 months in American oak barrel, giving it some great toasty oak, vanilla flavours. This is a 100% Tempranillo red, classic cheap but good Ribera del Duero. Powerful cherry, berries, and some plums flavours. A long/medium smooth tannin lasting taste.

It is sold on a few Spanish websites as low as 5 euros. The cheapest UK retailer is Ellis Wharton Wines selling £10.49. Really great value for money!
