Domaine Hudelot Noellat 2018
Charles Van Canneyt at Domaine Hudelot Noellat made some rich and concentrated wines in 2018. Personally, I am not a massive fan of this structured style of Burgundy but I admire their effort in retaining freshness and keeping alcohol reasonably low (13.2-14.2%) in this warm vintage. Harvest for the reds started on the 5th of September. Alcohol level between 13.2% to 14.2%. pH 3.6-3.8. Yield ranged from 36-48hl/ha. Winemaking 100% destemmed. 20% new oak in village wine, 30% new oak in Premier Cru and 50% new oak in Grand Cru. Tasting Notes Meursault 2018 2018 is the second vintage of Meursault from Hudelot Noellat. Harvested on the 28th of August.…

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé 2003
Revisiting the 2003 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé with Jean-Luc Pépin. A roller coaster vintage with some outperformer and many hit and miss bottles due to the extreme heat. 2003 is one of the most unusual vintages in Burgundy that growers and drinkers will remember vividly for a long time. The 2003 Bourgogne Blanc is drinking at its peak and tasted like a Northern Rhone Blanc. Interestingly there were no acidification in their Musigny, Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru (mini-Musigny) and Les Amoureuses. My favourite of their 2003 was Les Amoureuses, not much heat or clumsiness, showing gently spiced floral notes. Jean-Luc blinded us on a bottle of 1989 Musigny, which…

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé (from Bourgogne Blanc to Musigny)
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé is one of the top producers in Chambolle Musigny, along with J.F. Mugnier and G. Roumier. Owning a share of the best three vineyards of Chambolle Musigny, Le Musigny, Les Amoureuses and Bonnes Mares. Vogüé certainly has no shortage of top terroir in Burgundy. Vogue Bourgogne Blanc Comte Georges de Vogue is the only producer who owns Chardonnay vines in Le Musigny, owning a mere 0.65 hectares of chardonnay vines in Musigny. Due to replanting in 1987, 1991, and 1997, and the average age of the chardonnay is below 25 years old. François Millet believes that vines younger than 25 years old are unworthy of…
